A Western Zen Approach to Life
In this two day workshop with Zen Master Genpo Merzel participants will have the rare opportunity to work directly with this internationally known teacher. Since his own awakening more than 40 years ago, it has been Genpo Roshi’s vocation and passion to develop his own clarity and help others to develop their wisdom and compassion. His work is rooted in a deep understanding of traditional Zen practice and four decades of teaching in the US and Europe, driven by an ongoing search for ways to connect Western and Eastern approaches, Zen and Western psychology, spirituality and the everyday world.
The Big Mind Big Heart process is a practice to expand awareness and the integration of those aspects of self that are disowned. This workshop will focus on integrating traditional Zen wisdom and Western psychology in a way that only Roshi can do. He worked closely with his own Zen Master, Taizan Maezumi Roshi, from 1972 until his death in 1995, and with Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone since the 1980s. His skillful expression and his deep understanding of each participant make it possible to have profound insights and leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of one’s own nature.
