5-Day Buddhayana Retreat

Wednesday October 20 – Sunday October 24, 2021

“To study the self is to forget the self.
To forget the self is to be actualized by the myriad things.”
- Dogen Zenji

This is the first of three retreats and one sesshin devoted to Buddhayana Zen during the second year of the Four Yana Four-Year Program led by Genpo Roshi exploring the full range of Buddhist teachings. This year will cover the third and fourth reasons for practice: self-realization and further clarifying and practice for the sake of others. It will focus on koans, shikantaza and the Big Mind/Big Heart Process.

Buddhayana Zen is the non-dual understanding of the Supreme Way and what I refer to as the right side of the triangle. It is based on non-dual reality as well as the free-functioning koans, the Big Mind/Big Heart process and on Jijuyu Zanmai (Self-fulfilling/bliss samadhi).

Daily Schedule  (Mountain Time):
   •  Sitting:   9:00 – 10:00 am
   •  Roshi teaching:   11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Open to all.
This retreat is included in the Four Yana Program; tuition for those not enrolled in the Program is based on Student/Member level (see here).

For more information about the Program, and Readings on Buddhayana, see here.
