7-Day Mahayana Sesshin with Genpo Roshi

This sesshin focusing on the Mahayana Zen Path is a required part of the year-long study in the Four-Year Four Yana Program (either in-person or via Zoom), and is included as one of the scheduled events in the One-Year Big Mind Zen Program as well.  It is also open to all other interested persons, at rates depending on their membership status.

(Registered participants in the Four-Year Four Yana Program and the One-Year Big Mind Zen Program do not have to register here.  They will automatically receive the link to the Instruction page with Zoom links for the morning and afternoon sessions of the Retreat.)

Location:  The sesshin will be held in Salt Lake City at the Wasatch Conference Center of the 'ECC' (the Episcopal Church Center) in the heart of the city, where many Kanzeon/Big Mind events have been held in the past.  Address: 200 East 75 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84111.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm:  Genpo Roshi teaching
1:00 - 2:30 pm:  Lunch (on your own), exercise and rest
2:30 - 3:00 pm:  Samu
3:00 - 5:00 pm:   Sitting and service
6:00 - 7:00 pm:  Dinner on your own
7:30 - 9:30 pm:  Monday and Tuesday: Sitting and Teisho
       Wednesday: 7:30 - 8:00 Sitting; 8:00 - 9:30 Jukai Ceremony
       Thursday: 7:30 - 8:00 Sitting; 8:00 - 9:30 Shukke Tokudo Ceremony
        Friday: 7:30 - 8:00 Sitting; 8:00 - 9:30 Jukai Ceremony

Participants are welcome to wear their robes and rakusus if they wish.

Afternoon and evening Sitting and Service will not be on Zoom.

Remote participants are encouraged to sit with the same schedule adjusted to their time zone.

If you wish to reserve lodging at the ECC:

Lodging does not include meals, but lodgers have access to a complete kitchen and dining room.  (There are also supermarkets and various shops and restaurants close to the ECC.) 

Many other lodging options are available within walking distance in the downtown area.

Directions from Salt Lake City Airport to the ECC 

Public transportation, TRAX, can be found at the airport on the ground level of the Main Terminal.  Take TRAX to to the City Center station (Main Street and 100 South).  Once you leave the train on Main Street, walk 2 blocks east on 100 South to 200 East, turn left on 200 East.  The ECC is on the northwest corner of 100 South and 200 East.  Enter on the north side adjacent to the parking lot.
