5-Day Retreat with Genpo Roshi

Can we awaken and liberate ourselves through our own efforts, or does liberation depend on a power beyond and greater than our selves?  This is a question as old and deep-rooted as humanity’s search for meaning and freedom, dividing seekers and entire religions, including Buddhism.

How about Zen?  Does the realization of enlightenment come only through our samadhi turned inward, illuminating the self?  If so, what self?  And if we must relinquish our self to a power outside ourselves, how can we access that grace, that Other-Power beyond our control? 

 Or can we let go of our belief in whichever of these two seemingly contradictory paths we may be stuck in, to embrace, include and transcend them both?

 This retreat with Genpo Roshi is your opportunity to answer that question for yourself.

This retreat is open to all, though the number will be limited by the space available.
