Women In Zen
3-Day Meditation / Exploration In-Person Retreat Salt Lake City, Wasatch Conference Center (ECC) Sunday June 4 -Tuesday June 6, 2023
Immediately after the 7-Day Mahayana Sesshin, May 28 - June 3
* Limited to 10 participants. Open to all women in the Four-Year Four Yana program and the One-Year Big Mind Zen Program. Open to others as space permits. *
Over the past year, we four teachers -- Seien, Shozen, Jigen and Mushin -- have been engaged in a process of deep listening, uncovering layers of conditioning and exploring our experience of what it means to be an awakened woman. We have been looking at what becomes possible when we fearlessly gather and free ourselves from preconceived ideas of who we are and why we are here.
We enter this retreat guided by several key principles:
Our goal: We seek to explore what it means to be women in the patriarchal Zen tradition, and how we have been taught and culturally conditioned to work against one another. Instead of turning away from these deeply rooted patterns, we bring them into the shared space as an opportunity for each of us to awaken. Through this practice, we bring forth our innate wisdom, strength and clarity, so that we may freely and honestly express ourselves.
